A (Modern) Picture Show

Three members of the Front Range Modern Quilt Guild, along with our President, Melissa Riche traveled down the highway to Pueblo today. We visited the newly-organized City Beat Modern Quilters to share some quilts made by members of the FRMQG and see what our friends "down South" have been making.

Warning:  This post has nearly 30 photos! I've re-sized them to a smaller size, but if you have a slow computer connection, you may want to go make a cup of tea (OK, a gin and tonic) while the post loads!

Because there are so many photos, I will keep the commentary to a minimum. If you have a question about a specific quilt, either ask in the comments or send me an email and I'll try to find out the detes for you.

Front Range Modern Quilt Guild President, Melissa Richie, addresses the "aesthetic of Modern Quilting."

Quilts from City Beat Modern Quilters:
This was made with fat quarters from the guild's "door prize basket."

Her first quilt! Can you believe it?

What a fun story -- a fabric exchange with her Mom and sisters!

We had such a great time. What a wonderful, warm, and welcoming guild. I hope the two guilds will  do a "joint" meeting or maybe even a retreat at some time in the future!

  2. Thanks for all those great inspirational photos. You have given me much food for thought.

  3. I love looking at quilts! Thanks for sharing. I had been thinking about making some mod mosaic blocks at a sewing weekend away next weekend and now you've helped me decide that I will! Lovely quilts!

  4. These are all beautiful, Marti. Thanks for sharing! :o)

  5. Looks like a lot of inspiration and sharing happening there. Just what quilters like to do...

  6. How fun was that? Thank you so much for sharing this little adventure with all of us!

  7. Lots of pretty quilts. Love the bright ones! Nice to see what other guilds are up to...hope you find a mutual retreat location. Sandi

  8. Awesome quilts!! I am curious as to how the one in PMQG10 was made. The squares look like they were appliqued on but I wonder if it was pieced and if there is a pattern for it. I would love to make it myself using scraps.
    Thanks for sharing... :)

  9. So many really beautiful quilts!

Thanks for taking your time to comment. If I don't answer in an email, it's because you're a no-reply commenter and I can't find you!
