TGIF and a New Sewing Room

What is it with Americans that we dedicate the largest room, with the best view, to sleeping? The master bedroom in my house is larger than the kitchen, larger than the living room, larger than the family room -- and it has a killer view of Pikes Peak!

So we've made the master bedroom into the "winter sewing room." Look at the view! And the light is the best in the house, with the huge Palladian windows.

Now I have a huge design wall, 14' high! I need to buy more flannel to cover more of the wall for design space. It's big enough to lay out an entire King-sized quilt!

I did get quilt #45 for 2013 pieced. It's Clover by Miss Rosie's Quilt Co., the October Schnibbles quilt.

I  know the corner triangles are oversized. I decided not to trim them off until after I quilt it, because the one I trimmed is now off-center. And I've decided this will be the baby quilt for the new IBM baby, rather than the Dresden from last week. I just love the colors in Lily Ashbury's "Gypsy Girl!"

Today is Strip Club at High Country. I'm hoping to get this quilt completely pieced today, think I can do it?

  2. So do you now sleep in the old sewing room? That's a great view you have to distract you! :o)

  3. It's not just Americans who do that - its very common here as well. Sounds like an excellent deal on your part at least.
the way you work you will have no troubles at all finishing that quilt.

  6. that quilt it so pretty, I love it.
You were right to change rooms, I have a stunning view from my sewing room and contrary to everyone's predictions, I don't spend all day gazing out at it!
I'm sure a lovely environment aids creativity.

  7. You lucky duck to have such a huge sewing room!! My sewing room is no bigger than a small walk-in closet might be. I sometimes have to move down to the family room/dining room table to do larger projects. But I am happy to have what I do have because I used to have only a small corner of the master bedroom, and my husband always goes to bed early. So I'm good now :)

  8. Great idea! I mean, who lies in bed and looks out the window? (especially in winter when it's dark).

    1. Hmm, didn't think of that! It's kind of a jumble now, maybe if I organize it a little better!

  10. You are right about the rooms in our home. I think your idea is a very good one. Remember to look up from your stitching now and then...hee hee hee! Sandi

  11. That is pretty crazy when you think about it! I guess that's why I took the room below our master which is basically the same size minus the walk in closet for my sewing room. The happiest room in the house!
