New on the Design Wall

I finished my first 30 "A Quilt Block a Day" Shoo-Fly Blocks. So I'm starting a baby quilt of more Shoo-Flies.

These blocks will finish at 12", so each plain piece is cut to 4.5". I'm using some of my hoarded Lizzie House collection.

It takes more time to choose and fussy-cut each block than it does to sew it!  But who can resist hedgehogs?

Or butterflies?

The rest of the blocks may not be a single main color like these, but I'm having fun choosing the prints for each.

I need to get caught up on my BaDs, so I can finish the Transparency Quilt I started at Quilt Colorado!

  1. Love the colors of the Shoo-Fly blocks for the baby quilt. Can't wait to see more of it! And I'm thinking about taking a Transparency class at the Chattanooga quilt show. Would you recommend it? Back to sewing!

  2. I agree, very cute hedgehogs! Although I do prefer our Aussie echidnas but I don't think there are too many of them on fabric!

    fussy cutting is . . .well . . . .fussy...but absolutely worth it.

  4. love these blocks and the fussy cutting was so worth the time, I love quilts when you go and look at the block you find surprises in the fabric :)

  6. I never thought I cared for shoo-fly blocks, but you changed my mind. These look so cute! The fussy cuts just add so much to the cuteness factor. And I know what you mean about hoarding the Lizzie Housed pearl bracelets fabric. My kids gave me a half dozen fat quarters of them a couple years ago, but I can't bring myself to cut into them.
