WIP Wednesday Quilt #49

I might make it to 52 quilts this year after all!  The last two have been table runners, but I count them if I quilt them myself!

Here is my November "Schnibbles" quilt, "Morning Joe."

I used a single charm pack of "Java" by Deb Strain for Moda. I didn't cut down the 5" squares, just made them into half-square triangles. Because my seams on the diagonal weren't quite 1/2" apart, I could square up the HSTs to 4.5" -- so my HSTs are larger than those called for in the pattern. I don't want to go back and cut them down to the smaller size, so I'll have to calculate my own sashing strip sizes.

I just got word from My Little Sailor that he is back on the ship after going ashore in the Philippines to document the relief efforts. He's "a little sunburnt" but safe!

    1. Thanks, Ann! I wish I had bought two charm packs, but this worked out OK.

  2. Happy that you've heard from your son. I do remember him as being fair skinned in photos you've shared with us. Hair Conditioner works really well to calm a sun burn. Like your Morning Joe. Sandi

  5. Calculate the border...ah yes, remember the days when we had to calculate everything? Or maybe I'm older than you. :-)

    1. Oh yeah -- I remember tracing around a cardboard template to make a 9-patch block! So lucky with all the rulers and acrylic templates nowadays!

  6. I like your Morning Joe. I hate cutting down precuts too. Seems like something you just shouldn't have to do. I'm glad your son is safe. A girl in my class at school, year 6, has relatives in the Philippines. She told me her Mum's family is safe (they lived in different region to that affected by the typhoon) but they have not yet heard from her grandmother on her Dad's side. How awful. They still can't get in contact.

  7. I’d love to change the spell icons, if anyone is willing to contribute art for credit then I will change it asap. I don’t think I can get sued given that it’s for non-commercial purposes but I’m not a lawyer.
