Sunday Stash and Last De-Stash

My "De-Stash" basket will be empty after today's De-Stash. It's been fun sending boxes all over the world!

Sunday Stash

For a month when I haven't been shopping, I have quite a few goodies to share in today's Sunday Stash!

I knew I had some Charley Harper fat quarters, somewhere! So when I saw the yardage on clearance at Fabricworm, I bought two prints for borders. And guess what? I found the fat quarters without hardly digging at all!

I think this line is just the best for baby quilts! 

 

And there are several new "future IBMers" on the horizon this month, so I need to get stitching!

I love "text prints," don't you? And what's even better than a text print? A text print in French!

 One of my oldest friends is a librarian, and I am determined to make her a "book quilt" this year. Won't this be perfect for the backing?

One can never have too many neutrals, right? And with Bonnie Hunter's 2014 Mystery Quilt coming up, I didn't resist this bundle of Kim Diehl's Butter Churn Basics!

It's time to start planning for the 2015 Jelly Roll Party at Ruth's Stitchery. I have a pile of new strip quilt patterns -- and I'm starting to collect jelly rolls! I love Lily Ashbury's colors, perfect for a summer quilt.

I like to made a Quilts of Valor quilt for July, so I scooped this one up almost before Sonya had it added to the computer!

After Instagramming new Kona Cotton colors for 32 days, I didn't win the giveaway of the FQ tower. So I bought one for myself!

Speaking of Kona Cottons, Ruth's Stitchery will be doing Aviatrix for a block party next year. And Cathy has ordered the Kona Cotton bundle that goes with this pattern. Squeee!

De-Stash

So what's on the table for the last de-stash (at least until I begin the end-of-year sewing room clear out!)?

How about some more batiks? It's not that I don't love batiks, it's just that these aren't big enough to be quilt backs, and the print is too big for my style of quilting! So someone gets to add them to her stash!

There are 2.5 yards each of these two tealy-greeny prints:

And two yards of the purple-pink-fuchsia:

They're yours for the cost of postage. All three pieces will fit in a medium size flat rate box, postage $12.65 US (probably about $25US to international address.)

Road Trip Stash and De-Stash

Road trips by car are dangerous for quilters and knitters.  All that room to fill with purchases -- even in the Mini Cooper!

Definitely a "bucket list" trip.

So did I buy any fabric on this trip?  Umm -- yep!

Stash

Enough Cotton + Steel deco weight to make a Noodlehead Super Tote for me.

Some "beachy" cottons from Creative Fabrics in Wheeler, Oregon. These are to make a block for one of the members of the 2013 Scrap Squad. She wanted "anything that reminds you of the beach." What's better than fabric from the beach?

I love to visit the shops in Quilt Sampler's Shop Hop magazine. We "happened" to duck into Boersma's Sewing Center in McMinnville (the GPS really, really wanted us to drive I-5 from Portland to California!). This is quite the shop -- at least a half-dozen long-arms in their basement classroom and at least as much fabric as Ruth's Stitchery! Their project in the magazine is my favorite, so how lucky that this is the one shop I got to visit.

The one place I wanted to visit in San Francisco was Britex Fabrics. So after touring numerous historic ships and Fisherman's Wharf, My Little Sailor followed me to Britex. Wow. Just. Wow. I was so overwhelmed, the only thing I bought was buttons for two sweaters, and big metal rings for Friend Mary to use on our next Abbey Lane Beatle Bag.

I missed one skein of yarn on Thursday's knitting post. This lovely thing is from Tangled Yarns in Tillamook. 

As is the lovely matching shawl pin on the left. The Julie Ueland pin is from the Latimer Quilt & Textile Center. Years ago, when I worked at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Julie also lived in Tacoma. Each season she had a special sale of her jewelry. So I had to buy this just for old time's sake!

Wonder what this is?

It's the ends of these glass knitting needles gifted to me by DD. Aren't they gorgeous? The "needles" are size 10, so I'll have to find some chunky yarn to knit a scarf using them.

Last purchases from our trip are not fabric, nor yarn. This Lucky Cat, or Maneki Neko, is black to protect family. Appropriate, as MLS returns to Japan tomorrow!

And I added a "few" Starbucks mugs to my "You Were Here" collection:

De-Stash

De-Stash Sunday

Nothing added to the stash this week (gasp, can you believe it?). 

I did get my dress finished in time for the wedding, though! I meant to ask someone to take a photo for me, but in the excitement, I forgot. DH did snap this shot of me with the bride and groom:

De-Stash

Look what I have to de-stash this week! Nearly 5 pounds (that's more than 14 yards!) of Moda 3 Sisters. Mostly Chocolat and Double Chocolat, it's left over from my very first Quiltmaker's Scrap Squad 2013 project:

And here it is on my postal scale. Yes, I zeroed out the scale when I put the ruler on it to hold the fabric.

The Fastest De-Stash

I've been test-sewing a bag this week, so I haven't added a thing to the stash -- gasp!

Since I have bags on my mind, I decided to offer this little bag "kit" for this week's de-stash.

This de-stash is so small, it should fit in a first-class envelop. New Sunday Stash and De-Stash

The Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival was this weekend in Loveland. Friend Mary and I took a road trip up on Friday and enjoyed some serious stash enhancement!

Stash

First up, not from the Quilt Festival, but added this week: Denyse Schmidt's newest collection, Hadley. I have an enormous DS stash, but this was clearly a case of, "If I don't buy it now, it might sell out." I got mine from the etsy shop "Vintage Modern."

And since I also ordered Denyse's new pattern, "In This Corner"

I had also to order her Free Spirit Modern Solids collection (on sale at Fat Quarter Shop).

That will serve as my birthday prezzie -- two months off, so remind me!

I'm down to the very last block on my biggie-sized "Ryokan" quilt. I chose "One More Block" from Judy Hopkin's "501 Rotary Cut Quilt Blocks" book. 

Judy suggested using a different color for each quadrant of the block. Somehow I got the notion that one quadrant should be dark purple and olive green. I used Moda Marbles for all the "quilt blocks" in the quilt. Who knew Moda Marbles must be out of fashion -- I had a terrible time finding olive green! Finally scored it at Sew-Ciety in Castle Rock.

Holly's Quilt Cabin had just the right Japanese taupes for the frames, borders and bindings.

The print on the far left is my outside border. It's really more grey-green than in this photo, but I wanted to show off the lovely tone-on-tone print I found for the narrow dark border.

At the Festival, The Fig Leaf from Ft. Collins had the newest issue of Modern Quilts Illustrated. Bill Kerr talked about this issue at Quilt Colorado, so I am happy to have it in my hands at last.

I was pleased to find this Faye Burgos print for Marcus Fabrics at High Prairie Quilts.

It's just what I need for the setting triangles for my "Aunt Sukey Sampler" from Marti Michell's "Five is Fabulous."

Oh look, another candidate for the 2015 Jelly Roll parties. There is an etsy shop, Quilt Lakeside, listed on the pattern. Sadly, the shop appears to be "out of business." I bought this pattern at High Prairie Quilts, and it was the last one! Don't know if they will be able to get more.

The son of a close friend is getting married at the end of the month. Laura of Lilacs & Lace inspired me to get back into fashion sewing, so I chose this dress. The lovely floral print is "Petal Poetry" by Exclusively Quilters from Ruth's Stitchery.

 

Finally, my one big purchase at the Quilt Festival is this "Stem Punk" quilt kit from Material Girl quilts shop in Grand Island, Nebraska. Ever since my BFF moved from Ohio to Texas, I haven't been back to the shop. So I was delighted that they were one of the vendors at the Festival. This quilt is designated for a graduation gift for the very last 4-H'er I taught to knit. 

De-Stash

How about some Joel Dewberry?

There is a bit more than one pound in this batch. Along with the "Heirloom" from Joel Dewberry, there is a bit of Deb Strain and some other prints that coordinate. The pieces are a minimum of 10" but most are larger.
