Hello Everyone!
The Younger Son (Alternately, My Little Sailor) here with a long-past-due announcement. The 'Susie's Magic Binding' Video Tutorial is now LIVE on YouTube!
I love your new look!! Thank you for a great tutorial. I have been addicted to this binding since you first introduced me to it!!! I even made myself do my last quilt the traditional way just because I haven't for so long!! Great job on the video!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful video! Your camera work was great and as soon as I'd think of a question, you'd have the explanation. Thanks for taking the time to help us all.
Jennifer, if you go to the original tutorial, there is a close-up of the back after the finding is finished. It doesn't show up on the purple backing! http://www.52quilts.com/2012/05/tuesday-tutorial-susies-magic-binding.html
I thouroughly enjoyed your video for an 'all machine binding' technique! A great technique that I will certainly use because like you I dislike hand sewing bindings! Since you invited comments let me first say, I really liked your general manor, appearance and voice on the video. You were clear, concise and no 'um's' in your instruction. I do have a few minor suggestions: Your manicure was beautiful and I liked the purple enamel but sometimes your finger tips disappeared when you were pointing at the purple fabric, made it hard to see what you were pointing at?! Also, forgive me for picking nits but I'm an old science teacher and a Circumference is for curved shapes, the more accurate term for the edge all the way round of a rectangle or square would be Perimeter. I don't know that it really matters people get the general idea of what you are saying. Thank you again for posting this video I know it must have taken a lot of time to produce! Cheers!
This is my all time favorite binding method!! I keep sending my friends to your page to see the tutorial! Now I will be sending them to You - Tube too!! I have used this on at least 8 quilts in the last 2 years! Thank you for the great video work! Your sailor has a future making films!! I appreciate that close up camera mounted to the machine so we can see the progress as the fabric goes into the needle area. :)

ReplyDeleteNice job on the video. Love the binding technique.
ReplyDeleteAny chance to see a close up of the finished back of the quilt? Looks like a terrific way to "git 'er done" on the machine.

I love this method of binding! I finally tried it about a month ago, and have used it twice so far. Thanks.

LOL forgive ME for picking nits -- but don't you mean "manner," not "manor?"
