Congratulations on the BIG 400!!!! :) Hooray Aunt Marti (and the nice Sailor gentleman that spruces the blog header and such)!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore quilt kits! Though I don't buy a lot of them, I think they are super useful and an easier option when you are in a pinch to make something and want it "all-in-one" versus hunting and gathering. With that said...I think my preference is to buy bit by bit. But it's a super close toss up between the two! LOL
Thank you for your generous giveaway. I agree...this would be a super fun and bright quilt to make this time of year to cheer someone up from the winter blues. :)
I love to gather my own bits but appreciate a kit when in a hurry to complete something. TIA! B-)
ReplyDeleteParabéns!!!Adoro fazer parte destes seguidores.Sempre faço aos poucos, mas compro kit também.Obrigada por abrir internacional(sou brasileira).
ReplyDeletetiacarminhapezzuto@gmail.com
Congratulations on 400 followers. I have to say I usually do quilting bit-by-bit but like kits also because the fabric is already chosen for you.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win your give away but hope whoever gets it enjoys it!
Congrats to you!! I have only ever bought one kit and am working on it now. It is nice to have all I need ready to go instead of having to figure out colors, how much yardage, etc.
ReplyDeleteAll my other quilts have been a "shoot from the hip" kind. ha!
Thanks for a chance to win a kit for blog candy!!
txjennywren.blogspot.com
congrats on 400! those are fun fabrics. I've never bought a kit, mostly because I'm mostly a scrap quilter.
ReplyDeleteI buy bit by bit, but I like the idea of having everything ready to go. Love the colors of the kit fabrics!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Right now, I like kits because everything is there. I am still learning how to get the colors right as well as how much fabric I need.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower!
Congratulations on reaching 400 followers. I buy bit by bit, but buy a kit every year at the Sisters quilt show.
ReplyDeleteAll right! Congratulations ... I usually do the pattern with bits from the stash. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWoohooo, Marti! Many congratulations on reaching your 400 followers!
ReplyDeleteI have to confess, I've never bought a quilt kit! I usually just do things bit by bit but I do like the idea of having everything you need there when you want to make the quilt though. :o)
Aunt Marti you're amazing! 400 FOLLOWERS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt pattern and the fabric is gorgeous! If I were to win I'd expect a Skype date to have you help me get started with my first real quilt.
To answer your questions, I think I would buy the kits to begin with. I'm not sure about picking fabrics.
Congratulations on 400 followers!
ReplyDeleteI most often purchase the fabric for quilts bit by bit, but sometimes a kit works out well.
I was following through Google reader, but just clicked on follower to make sure I was counted. I rarely buy a kit - if I do, it is usually for the fabric, not the pattern, but once in a while I just buy one because I like all of it. Congratulations on the abundance of followers.
ReplyDeleteO just love that kit! I usually buy quilts piece by piece but I just moved to a town with no fabric shop (!) so kits are usually better to purchase online!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your quilting experiences with us!
Rachel.e.dreher at gmail dot com
Kits are the easier way to go BUT I'm definitely a bit-by-bit quilter. I prefer to use my stash...the ever growing...even though I'm using it all the time stash! I enjoy the HUNT! Thanks for the opportunity to win...I'm number 403 to follow. Sandi
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Marti! 400 is a huge milestone!!! I usually tend to build my own kits, but when the price is right, I'll definitely buy one I really like! Usually, though, I like the way ones that I build on my own won't look just like anyone else's.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm definitely a follower, and a "reply" blogger!!
I don't think I've ever bought a kit, and I've been quilting for almost 40 years. Winning this might convert me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win the quilt kit. I've read your blog on Google Reader for about a year. You have made some wonderful quilts.
ReplyDeleteI like to pick out a pattern (or design one) and then pick out the fabrics myself. I have never purchased a kit.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute kit! I am beginning quilting again after over a decade out of the game :) I have been wanting to try pinwheels--this looks like just the quilt to attack them!
ReplyDelete400 followers is wonderful! Congratulations! I don't buy pre-made kits, but I do prefer to buy my fabric all at once when I've decided on a pattern. That saves me from running back to the fabric store (most times!).
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying following. (Although my 13 UFOs has turned into a list of 20, with 3 2014 projects added.)
ReplyDeleteI have been buying bit-by-bit - feels a bit more "pioneer" I guess to make something from scratch. But I'm leaning towards kits with all the UFOs - it's the cutting that gets me!
Congrats on 400!! Only once did I buy a kit and it was when I first got into learning to quilt... my measuring was 'off' but after purchasing more fabric, I was able to create a beautiful quilt that I am still proud of today (over 20 years later!!). I am also a follower! (Still to this day I can't believe that that you make one quilt per week... you are my hero and inspiration!!) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHappy 400 followers Aunt Marti!! Yes I am a follower and yay for your giveaway! I tend to buy bits and pieces as I go but there is one kit I wish I had bought ages ago from Mad About Patchwork - maybe one day I will get a hold of it. Thanks for it being international!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 400 followers! Well done! I guess you must be dong something we all really like! Thanks for the chance to win, I say I prefer to buy my bits but have been trying to decide on the materials for a new quilt for months now and can't get my head around... So I think buying kits would make my life so much easier! I love this one!
ReplyDeleteThe truth is I like to do both. My favorite isn't either though. I like fat quarter bundles, either entire collections or a grouping that already coordinates. I am a follower.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to buy a kit, although several have been very tempting. Congrats on 400 followers! A great milestone! Thanks for the generous and lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love buying in a kit sometimes. There are other times I would love the pattern but want my own colors. Congrats on 400 followers. I love the blog and read it every day. I love the Farm Girls pattern, it is so cute.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 400 followers! I never buy any kits before :D
ReplyDeleteI am one of the 400! I usually buy bit by bit- bit the occasional kit comes along. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am relatively new to quilting and have only started a quilt "bit-by-bit" but I would love to try a kit! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI live in Argentina, and I can`t find anything about ptchwork... In the past Ipreferred to buy kits in web stores, but the new laws in my country make it very difficult ... Now, I cry, recycle, and watch your blog... ¡¡¡Ja!! ¡¡¡ja!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, this makes me sad! I hope there won't be a problem with you receiving fabric through the mail if you win the giveaway!
DeleteWell of course I'm a follower!! and mostly I but "bit by bit" otherwise I end up with something that looks exactly like someone else's and its good to use some of your stash (sometimes!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower. Grats on 400!!! what a nice giveaway. I am a bit by bit type of girl and have never used a kit.
ReplyDeletei've never done a kit and ould be afraid to do one as I always make mistakes
ReplyDeleteI am a follower. I only made one quilt from a kit and the rest mostly scrappy, so I guess I would say piece by piece.
ReplyDeleteWoot Mrs Marti!!!! Way to go on getting 400! as for your question, im a bit by bit by bit by bit kinda gal. I love looking at kits, but im always going to the yardage.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 400 followers. I'm not surprised as your blog is such fun to follow. My husband bought me a kit last year and it was great having all the fabric at once but I also enjoy buying it as I go along as I do like to be able to change my mind about the fabrics I use.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I don't have enough experience yet to know what I like best -- I've done them both ways, and liked them both ways. I DO like having a bunch of fabric leftover when I buy my own bits and overestimate what I need, though! :)
ReplyDeleteI usually buy my projects bit by bit. I'll find one fabric I can't do without and go from there... Makes it easier on my budget, but if I could afford it, I buy kit after kit after kit! Choosing the "right" fabric is hard for me! Have been a follower of yours for a while and always enjoy it when I see new posts!

DeleteCongratulations! Cute quilt! Actually, i like both bit by bit and kits...its all fun!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 400! I usually do not use kits, but I think a kit would be fun! Sometimes when I just put stuff together that I think will go, there is an ooops or two in the process!
ReplyDelete400! Wow! Congratulations - and thanks for the chance at a giveaway.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I prefer putting together my own fabrics for quilts, bit-by-bit. That said, I've been known to buy quilt kits, just because I love the group of fabrics. The fabrics you've chosen for your giveaway are great! Thanks for the opportunity to win and congratulations on 400 followers!
ReplyDeleteI like bit by bit best, but I have bought a couple of kits, so I'm not against them! :)
ReplyDeleteI like both... it's nice when you see something you love to buy it already made up for you. Kind of a treat actually! Most of my quilts are bit by bit. Happy 400+!
ReplyDeleteI was following you before in Reader... now using GFC.
ReplyDeleteI follow you. Congrats on the 400!
ReplyDeleteI usually buy bit by bit. Thanks for the giveaway!
Congratulations on reaching the 400 mark. This looks like a fabulous kit. I have never bought a kit. I tend to buy fabrics a bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you very much ! It's a pleasure to follow your blog and see what you're up to next.
ReplyDeleteI used to would have said that I'd rather pick things up here and there, but now I like the simplicity of getting a collection of fabrics that work together, and know what I'm going to use them for. Of course, I'm not above combining kits, or switching to a different design ...... such as in the kit you're offereing. I'm just itching to get my hands on those luscious greys !
Congratulations on 400! I love buying quilt kits, but I usually end up buying bit by bit, so I like both! There is something relaxing about having all the fabric already picked out and ready for you in a kit!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching 400 followers! I have been following your blog for a while now, although i dont tend to comment much... trying to change that.
ReplyDeleteI tend to mostly buy fabrics a few yards or fat quarters here and there, but do have some quilts, I like that everything is picked out and there is no stressing over my colour choices LOL
thanks so much for the opportunity to win the beautiful quilt kit.

Vicki, I did something wrong because my reply bounced. But want to say thanks for the kind comment and good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteCongrats on 400 followers! I love kits but must admit I usually buy bits and pieces. Thanks for a fantastic giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I love kits when I can afford them! I don't have a lot of confidence about picking my own colors. Thanks for such a generous giveaway.
ReplyDelete400followers...nicely done! Love reading your blog...thanks for the chance at such a great pattern and kit.
ReplyDeletePatti S.
Patti -- thanks for your kind comment. Good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteWell, congrats on 400 followers - I am one of them! I have never bought a quilt kit because I like to gather my own set of fabrics together. Sometimes I might want to do a pattern in pastels, another time in batiks, it just depends on my mood.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 400 followers (and I'm happy to be counted among them!)!
ReplyDeleteI've been a bit by bit quilter...I've only bought a kit once and then ended up making my own design using the fabrics in the kit with ones I already had. lol
I'm a bit-by-bit shopper for sure! Thanks so much for the chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on that milestone, Aunt Marti! My blog is trudging slowly up to that. :)
ReplyDeleteI buy bit by bit, usually with no plan in mind. When I decide to make something, I try to make most of it with what's in my stash, and then add to it. Love the colors in the Farmgirl's Garden collection.
Congratulations on the big 400! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI've never used a kit ever! I'm not even much of a pattern user, I tend to just go where the spirit takes me! I do use patterns but more often as suggestions rather than following along. I shop for fabric online in the sales that calls my name and then order as much as I can squeeze into the international envelope. Still cheaper than shopping here in Australia unfortunately, although the postage increase will most likely change all that for us here - rats!
That is a very cute quilt - I love pinwheels, not sure why, just do!
Big hugs to you for hitting the 400!
Congratulations on reaching 400, I am in that number!
ReplyDeleteI've only bought kits for smaller items, particularly ones with new techniques or tools that I want to try. Quilts I tend to collect up as I go.
Congratulations. Wow 400 followers! I do a bit of both, sometimes if I like a fabric range and the pattern, I'll buy a kit. Other times I pick up bits and pieces or use some from my stash and add to that. Hugs....
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 400! What a milestone.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to buy kits because I find it hard to come up with the right color combinations on my own. The caveat with kits is that it you miscut, it may be impossible to find the same fabric.

Congrats! I guess I can not give an educated answer because I've never bought a kit. But I'm more than willing to try one!

I have never bought a kit, I would like to try one sometime.
ReplyDeleteI seldom buy kit, I prefer to buy my fabric bit by bit. I have been a happy follower a long time
ReplyDeleteI prefer to buy my fabric bit by bit and use my own ideas. I have way too many pattern options to do kits as well!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I buy kits sometimes when I see a project made that I absolutely love. But I prefer to buy fabric bit by bit separately as I feel then it is more personalized.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Marti!
ReplyDeleteI usually buy 'bit by bit' but a kit is great when you're in a hurry and you need a quick purchase!
Congratulations, Marti!!
ReplyDeleteI just found your site and love it. So I am follower 411 - wow!!
The kit looks great and would be a first for me. I sometimes use a pattern but most often design my own.
I love kits because I get started right away. When I buy the fabric I am always missing something then never get started. Cute quilt, Congratulations. Vivian
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 400 Followers!!! I like to buy kits, because I'm not confident on choosing fabric... thanks for the chance to win!!

ReplyDeleteI do most of my projects "bit by bit" as I have a large stash so usually I can find "something" to go with a project. Altho I must admit, I do have a few kits and they are handy. I am a new follower, and I applaud your gigantic efforts, and am trying to follow along in my sewing room but maybe not as diligently. Goodness, I have tons of UFOs so one of my goals is to finish quite a few of them this year. Thanks for the delicious giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI used to buy kits more but now I tend to buy fabric I like when I see it so am more bit by bit!
ReplyDeleteI tend to shop bit-by-bit, though have bought a few kits that catch my eye. Yours is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI tend to buy in 2 parts: quilt top, and then quilt back. Congrats on 400 followers!
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo! 400!!! Congrats! I love following your blog. It helps to keep me motivated! Your productivity still keeps my head spinning. lol I mostly just collect fabrics here and there as I find colors/prints that I can not live without ;) but sometimes I fall in love with a quilt just as it is, and then I have to buy the kit! Thank you for the chance to win this adorable one.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 400 followers! I need a tech savvy relative to help me begin to blog. I vary between buying kits and piece by piece. I really just love to buy!! Shhh
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 400 followers - I'm one of them. I mostly buy my projects "bit by bit", but I occasionally fall in love with a kit. Would love to win this one - thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteSo far I have purchased quilts bit by bit. I'd love to try a kit though!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and I love reading all about your ambitious goals - very motivating to get me working on my projects. :)
Thank you for offering the giveaway to internationals - I'm a Canadian follower.
Keep up the great work! I need to get my projects done.
Hi I am a new follower now. The answer to your question is probably not what you want to hear but here goes. I am a recycling quilter. Most of my material stash is from old clothes and the like with a little new stuff thrown in for good measure. I wish to thank you for the chance of winning this great giveaway. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I do not buy kits, I like to build then shop my own stash.
ReplyDeleteI do both. I love scrap quilts pulled from my bins but I also by precuts and FQ bundles from time to time.I would love to be the one to try out this kit! Thanks for hosting the giveaway.

I buy fabric bit by bit and then when I'm ready to start a quilt I shop my stash first.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought a kit in years. I usually have to put them together at work. I enjoy picking from various lines and seeing what works
Congratulations! I buy bit by bit.
ReplyDeleteI just found you blog and I love it!!! I really enjoy buying my projects bit by bit so I know that I will like all of the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI like both kits and collecting fabric!!
ReplyDeleteDepends...sometimes I buy kits but I'd have to say I end up buying bit by bit since I'm on a "sewing budget". LOVE the spring like fabrics and the pattern reminds me of a quilt called, "pinwheels" that my sewing club back in WA state made. Love your blog site, you are very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI like kits because it takes the guess-work out of what goes with what and I'm pretty bad at picking coordinates.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance, I'm a GFC follower
shel704 at aol dot com
I usually buy bit by bit, but kits are a nice luxury! I love not having to wonder if my color choices go together! Congrats on 400 followers - I love reading your blog!! :)
ReplyDeletewinnieayala at yahoo dot com
I usually buy bit by bit. I love kits, but they are usually smaller then I want the quilt to end up being. I then usually end up buying more fabric and making the quilt from the kit bigger. Thanks for taking your time to blog.
ReplyDeletewow. I just started following. I must be 401! I love this kit. I prefer to buy kits - but usually put quilts together using stash and what I have to add.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower! Enjoyed discovering your blog. Thanks for the lovely giveaway. I have never used a quilt kit before but would love to try!
